Adrian Autry was named head coach at Syracuse University following the completion of the season. He was selected to replace his mentor, Hall of Fame coach Jim Boeheim, who held the post for 47 years. Autry had a stellar first season, guiding the Orange to a overall record and an mark in the ACC. Syracuse reached 20 wins and 11 conference triumphs for the first time since Autry ranked fifth among first-year Division I coaches in victories and was a finalist for the Joe B.
Hall Award. Autry had returned to his alma mater when he was named an assistant coach prior to the season. In March of , Autry was promoted to associate head coach. Autry has coached the Syracuse forwards and recruited all positions for the Orange. A product of St. Autry started of games in four seasons with the Orange, a stretch that began in and ended in Autry still ranks fifth in career assists and sixth in career steals at Syracuse.
He graduated from SU with a degree in Speech Communication in Autry had a successful professional basketball career, primarily in European leagues. Autry embarked on a coaching career in January when he was hired as associate head coach at Bishop Ireton Catholic High School Va. He moved into the collegiate ranks in when he was hired by then-head coach Seth Greenburg as director of basketball operations at Virginia Tech.
