Notwithstanding, he grew up in Lagos, alongside his other siblings named Tonia, Tony and Melvina his twin sister respectively. Melvin Oduah had his primary education in Lagos State. Prior to this, he participated in the Gulder Ultimate Search and emerged a runner-up in which was followed up with a Mr. Nigeria Beauty Pageant where he also came out as runner-up.

His participation TV reality show eventually shot him to limelight in the entertainment industry. Melvin is indeed very creative and talented Nollywood star, gifted in the interpretation of movie roles brilliantly. He has been widely applauded as one of the few actors coming from a far related discipline, Industrial Chemistry to acting.
