Log In. PJ Butta's Post. I understand radio is a business and has to make money. But making a choice to eliminate midday personalities like myself, is a glaring red flag about the state of radio today.

The mind set of money over talent is a misstep that highlights a broader issue within the industry: a shift from valuing connection to prioritizing cost-cutting. Reducing on-air talent in favor of syndicated or automated content, might look good on a balance sheet in the short term but ignores the long-term value that personalities bring to their stations and communities.
These are the areas where costs can be trimmed without sacrificing the essence of what makes radio unique and beloved by so many. The path forward for radio should involve a reevaluation of priorities, focusing on what has always made it special: the local, the personal, and the human. Straying from this core identity in pursuit of short-term savings is a misguided strategy that overlooks the true value of radio personalities.
